【摘要】:1.1Thisguideidentifiesfactorsrelevanttothequalityoflanguagetranslationservicesforeachphaseofatranslationproject.Theguideisintendedforusebyallstakeholders,withvaryinglevelsofknowledgeinthefieldoftranslation.1.2Thisguideisdesignedtoprovideaframeworkforagreementonspecificationsfortranslationprojects.Withinthisframework,theparticipantsinaserviceagreementcandefinetheprocessesnecessarytoarriveataproductofdesiredqualitytoservetheneedsandexpectationsoftheenduser.1.3Thisguidedoesnotprovidespecificmetrics.1.4Thisguidealsoincludesalistofspecificationparametersthatshallbeconsideredbeforeworkbegins.1.5Translationcanbeviewedinanumberofcontexts.1.5.1Oneisthatofglobalization,internationalization,localization,andtranslation(GILT),whichtakesproductsorservicescreatedforoneaudienceandmakesthemsuitabletovariousforeignlanguageaudiences,whetherinthehomecountryoraroundtheglobe.Inthecaseofproductsorservicesthatareaccompaniedbyorcontaintextualmaterial,thisprocessmustbesensitivetoculturalaspectsofthegeographicregionandlanguageofspecificmarkets,sometimesreferredtoaslocales.1.5.2Translationcanalsobeviewedinthecontextofvariousgovernmentpractices,includingcommunicatinganidentical,uniformmessagetomanylocalesatthesametime,thatis,notalteringthemessageevenslightlyforindividuallocales,and,ininformationgathering,retainingtheoriginalflavorofthesourcetext,purposelyavoidinglocalization.1.5.3Finally,translationcanbeviewedinamoregeneralcontext.AlthoughmuchtranslationisdoneinaGILTcontextorforgovernmentpurposes(forexample,diplomacy,lawenforcement,healthandhumanservices,security,andsoforth),therearemanyothertypesoftranslationperformedfortheunderstandingofmaterials(forexample,journals,letters,newsbroadcasts,andcommunications)thathavebeenwritteninanotherlanguage.Sometypesoftranslationmaynotincludelocalization.1.6Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisguidecannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidecanbeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMguideisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalserviceshallbejudged,norshouldthisguidebeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaprojectsuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisguidemeansonlythattheguidehasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMInternationalconsensusprocess.1.7Thisguidedoesnotaddressinterpreting(alsocalledinterpretation),whichinvolvesspokenlanguageasopposedtowrittenlanguage(seeGuideF2089).
