【摘要】:Thedamage-baseddesignapproachwillpermitanadditionalmethodofdesignforFRPmaterials.ThisisaveryusefultechniquetodeterminetheperformanceofdifferenttypesofresinsandcompositionofFRPmaterialsinordertodevelopadamagetolerantandreliabledesign.ThisAE-basedmethodisnotunique,otherdamage-sensitiveevaluationmethodscanalsobeused.Thispracticeinvolvestheuseofacousticemissioninstrumentationandexaminationtechniquesasameansofdamagedetectiontosupportadestructivetest,inordertoderivethedamage-baseddesignstress.Thispracticeisnotintendedasapredictoroflong-termperformanceofFRPmaterials(suchasthoseusedinvessels).Forthisreason,manycodesandstandardsrequirecyclicprooftestingofprototypes(forexample,vessels)whicharenotapartofthispractice.Otherdesignmethodsexistandarestillpermitted.1.1Thispracticedetailsproceduresforestablishingthedirectstressandshearstressdamage-baseddesignvaluesforuseinthedamage-baseddesigncriterionformaterialstobeusedinFRPvesselsandothercompositestructures.Thepracticeusesdataderivedfromacousticemissionexaminationoffour-pointbeambendingtestsandin-planesheartests(seeASMESectionX,ArticleRT-8).1.2Theonsetoflaminadamageisindicatedbythepresenceofsignificantacousticemissionduringthereloadportionofload/reloadcycles."Significantemission"isdefinedwithhistoricindex.1.3Units-Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninbracketsaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitswhichareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
