【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftransthicknesstensilestrength(SUT)undermonotonicuniaxialforcingofcontinuousfiber-reinforcedceramics(CFCC)atambienttemperature.Thistestmethodaddresses,butisnotrestrictedto,varioussuggestedtestspecimengeometries,testfixtures,datacollectionandreportingprocedure.Ingeneral,roundorsquaretestspecimensaretensiletestedinthedirectionnormaltothethicknessbybondingappropriatehardwaretothesamplesandperformingthetest.ForaCartesiancoordinatesystem,thex-axisandthey-axisareintheplaneofthetestspecimen.Thetransthicknessdirectionisnormaltotheplaneandislabeledthez-axisforthistestmethod.ForCFCCs,theplaneofthetestspecimennormallycontainsthelargerofthethreedimensionsandisparalleltothefiberlayersforuni-directional,bi-directional,andwovencomposites.Notethattransthicknesstensilestrengthasusedinthistestmethodreferstothetensilestrengthobtainedundermonotonicuniaxialforcingwheremonotonicreferstoacontinuousnonstoptestratewithnoreversalsfromtestinitiationtofinalfracture.1.2Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyforusewithalladvancedceramicmatrixcompositeswithcontinuousfiberreinforcement:unidirectional(1-D),bidirectional(2-D),woven,andtridirectional(3-D).Inaddition,thistestmethodalsomaybeusedwithglass(amorphous)matrixcompositeswith1-D,2-D,and3-Dcontinuousfiberreinforcement.Thistestmethoddoesnotaddressdirectlydiscontinuousfiber-reinforced,whisker-reinforcedorparticulate-reinforcedceramics,althoughthetestmethodsdetailedheremaybeequallyapplicabletothesecomposites.Itshouldbenotedthat3-Darchitectureswithahighvolumefractionoffibersinthe"z"directionmaybedifficulttotestsuccessfully.1.3ValuesareinaccordancewiththeInternationalSystemofUnits(SI)andIEEE/ASTMSI10.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.AdditionalrecommendationsareprovidedinandSection.
